305 to 350 help

I currently have a 305 TBI (L03) and want to swap in a 350. I was told it would be easiest to put in another TBI so i foundThis . What modifications would i need to make for this swap??

been there done that

as long as that engine has all the correct sensors theres not any real mods nessacary (I just did that swap and it wasn't hard at all, unfortunaltely though my engine has 130some thousand miles on it from a bone yard). anyway I found the swap fairly easy (just time consuming).

I would not waste your money on that particular motor. It has junk heads and cam. I would look into a used L98 shortblock or LO5 shortblock. It is relatively easy to swap in a 350 TBI as long as you have your car prepped for it. By prepped I mean full exhaust, upgraded fuel system, and the ability to get or burn a new chip.

What do i need for an upgraded fuel system???

Darn, I forgot! A better fuel pump. Most people get the Walbro 190 lph fuel pump. I can't remember where to buy it, though.

Yout are going to want a high flow fuel pump. You can use a TPI pump or go aftermarket with your choice of granatelli, holley, or walbro. For a 350 TBI you will also want a set of 350 TBI injectors. You can find these in your local junk yard or off of ebay.

to add onto his question could i buy a prom from TBIchips.com for a camaro with a 350 tbi (L05, im assuming) there were thirdgens from the factory w/ 350 tbi right? i think it would be easier to just buy a performance prom for that. also how much of a gain/ difference should the swap make can it get the car into the 14s w/ minor bolt ons ie. the mods that i have now? meaning if i had an open element, 3" catback, and a posi w/ 373s in an auto are high 14s possible? just curious

with your 350 in there, the chip dialed in and the mods you already listed I'd think high 14's are reasonable. Oh, and no camaro came from the factory with a 350 TBI. As far as i know that was a caprice engine. I forgot what other car used the engine also but it wasn't a camaro.

305 and 350 motors could be found in the caprices. They were roller motors. You could also get 305 and 350 TBI eigines in pick up trucks but they were non-roller motors. Whatever TBI motor you come across you will want to add at least a cam to it while it is out of the car. There really isn't point in swapping motors that perfrm marginaly better than your 305.

I totally agree with Shifty above. If you swap in a 350 setup and are running high 14s as suggested above; that is sad. I wouldn't go through all that hassle to run high 14's with a weak-*** 350 build. You could do headers, full exhaust and gears/posi and hit high 14's easy in an LO3.

For the beginners though.... an aftermarket set of 1.6 roller rockers will also wake things up. :D

http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/

sells the walbo 190 pump for like 83 dollers or somrthing like that. and its perfect for 350 motors and the stock pressure regulator works fine with it.
