fuel filter issue help please!

The problem i face right now is that the fuel filter on my 89 rs hasent been changed in soo long that the fittings are rusted to the filter. I have a plan. My plan is to cut the fuel fiter out and replace that line with a straight through hose. The next part of my plan is to insert a fuel filter in the send line under the hood. I am wondering can i put a universal fuel filter between the steel lines and the rubber hose next to the alternator. i mean where the bigger hose and the steel lines connect to each other, can i put a fuel filter in there???? Are the fittings 3/8" NPT is what i want to know???? Please help???

I have the same problem with one of my trucks. Right now I am going to try to soak it down with penatrating oil for awhile and see if I can see get it off.

when mine was stuck, I used pentrating oil and then vice grips rather then boxed end wrenches.

When I changed mine out just recently it was the original one and was really tough to get off. Soak it in penetrating oil overnight and then try.

I tried soaking them in penetrating oil a couple of times and that didnt work

Its Metric, use Flare Nut Wrenches,Soak the Fittings,Get new O-Rings in advance. Its under pressure, allow time for the pressure to bleed off. I would not replace a high pressure steel tube with O-Rings,with a rubber hose.FYI
