$3000 later, new engine, heads, and intake. Coolant in the oil, WTF? Okay I have replaced my engine, heads, and intake trying to get rid of the coolant that keeps getting in my oil. I did a coolant pressure test and it looses 1/2-1 PSI over 2 min. When I run the car for about 15 sec and pull the radiator cap there is tons of foam which is the signs of a bad head gasket a heads gasket. How in the world is the head gasket blown if its brand new engine, heads, and GM head gasket. I also torqued the heads to spec and used permatec 2A on the bolts. Is there something I am overlooking?? I don’t have an air compressor so I can’t do a leakdown test. |
I just drained the oil for about the 7th time in 150 miles. This time I put about 30 miles on it and there is a slight trace of coolant in my oil. Tons better then before I changed the intake. I have changed the oil and filter about 3 times since I have changed the intake so it is not just residue left over. How can i figure out where exactly it is coming from? |
Also the coolant pressure tester bounces a 1-2 PSI when I rev the engine up to ~2000 rpm, is that normal? |
do you have a new intake manifold? If not ,get it checked for cracks. |
man, i hate reading stuff like this. it always makes me skurd to start my car when i'm done. :( |
Do you have any new pics of the oil? |

I got fed up and bought an air compressor today to do a leak down test only to find no one sells leak down testers near me except Napa and they want $110! I have seen them on ebay for $40. Anyone know a good place to buy a leak down tester or has anyone built one? EDIT: I built a leakdown tester today, you can see it here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=248479 I will do the test tomorrow and see if find the problem. |
