Need help with power steerimg after header install I just installed Hedman headers and I am having difficulty getting the power steering brackets back on. The bracket that bolts on the side of the head with the two header bolts won't fit anymore. I am looking for ideas how to get the brackets back on or how did those of you with headers get your pumps to work? |
They make special brackets for header installs. You can also "shim and balance" as we call it and use spacers, shims, etc. to do the same thing. I welded up my own bracket for the job, I have all working A/C and P/S brackets on with headers. I would give summit a call. https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/biggrin.gif ------------------ ASE Mechanic/Machinist/Smog Tech 1999 NBM Trans Am 1986 Chevy 3/4 ton pick up 1981 corvette 1995 Kawi ZX6R and 2 POS commuters... I'm lazy... I use pieces of thick 7/16" inner diameter tubing to make spacers such that the header flange plus the spacer equalled the thickness of the manifold, then used the stock hardware and bolted it all on. I also have working A/C and PS, with all the brackets and hardware properly installed. Nothing is loose or out of line or anything. I test fit it before the otor went in the car, I think it took about 10 or 15 minutes to get it perfect. ------------------ "So many Mustangs, so little time..." ICON Motorsports |
Does anyone know who would make a bracket to mount the pump without having to connect to the header flange? Or a fairly easy way to get the stock ones to work? |
Do as RB said and just install the bracket up on the engine, and fill the gaps with a spacer and a longer bolt. ------------------ ASE Mechanic/Machinist/Smog Tech 1999 NBM Trans Am 1986 Chevy 3/4 ton pick up 1981 corvette 1995 Kawi ZX6R and 2 POS commuters... R.I.P. #3 "He can see air" |
