I have a question about a waterpump swap...

I ordered a Stewart pump today and plan on replacing it myself. Can I swap it with the radiator in or will there be not enough room to do that? This is my 1st swap so any advice is appreciated. Thanks guys.

I replaced my water pump about a month ago and I didnt need to remove the radiator.

just remove the fan shroud (spelled right?) that will give you all the room you need. Its a fairly simple task.

Tommy I didnt even need to remove the fan shroud at all. It will fit outta there noo problem

Just when you go to take the pump off, loosen the 4 bolts that hold the pulley on before you take the belt off. It will be 10x easier https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/biggrin.gif

kat is right:loosening those bolts is very important-I didn't before the swap and they were very difficult to get off. I dodn't need to remove my fan shroud, just movedthe alternator and a/c compressor out of the way.

No problem, all you need to do is drain the coolant, take the belt off, the shroud, the fan, and the pump. As haynes says, "installation is reverse of removal."

IROC I didnt even have to move the AC or the Alt outta the way at all.

All I did was turn the pump 90* and pulled it straight up..

Gotta love TBI engines sometimes https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/biggrin.gif

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing today. I can only imagine trying to loosen those bolts with no belt to hold the pulley in place, LOL.

You might be getting a phone call to come and look over my shoulder on this. Trust me, I'm not gonna pull a "Bill" on ya. https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/biggrin.gif
