question of the day how to turn a 350 to a 383 im wondering how you turn a 350 into a 383 ive got a stock 350 and would like to know what i need to buy to turn it into a 383 thanks for your info |
you need a .030 bore on the block. And you need a 400 crank. There is also some machining that has to be done to the block for clearance and such that im not to sure about. Someone with some more knowledge will fill in the blanks. |

The machining is required on the main journals. The 400 uses a bigger journal. They grind it down to the 350 main size. The work doesnt end there though. You will have to clearance the block and usually rods also. Many people run a small base circle cam, to aid in clearance. |
I used a aftermaket 383 crank, 383 pistons and cam clearanced 5.7 rods. You may have to remove some material from the block to clear your rods. There are many more variables when building this or any engine. |
