Re: HELP! 92 Firebird lost brakes + electrical fire!!! As for the Handbrake.. This a manual wire system that you will have to buy the cabling and replace.. It sounds like you have a variety of problems going on.. You stated that you lost brakes and power steering.. These are 2 different system entirely.. 1. The steering uses a power steering pump and gear box.. If you don't have power steering, Check your Belts, Fluid, P/S hoses, gearbox .. 2. If you don't have brakes.. There are alot of possibilities.. Hmmm, Fluid, Vacuum Lines, Power Booster, Brake Lines, Calipers or Drums, Reservoir, Proportioning valve. |

Thanks, Alex B: Appears to be the one way check valve which is usually located by the Power .Brake Booster.. But I have seen them elsewhere C: runs off vacuum and has to control Water for the Heating system. There should be either 2 or 3 water lines that run to it. I think they are 1 goes to the Throttle Body 1 goes to the firewall for the heater core 1 the last one should go to connection by the inner fender well. Someone correct me if I am wrong. |

The air switching valve directs air to the exhaust ports during cold engine operation or anytime the system is in open loop operation. It directs air to the converter beds during closed loop operation. When divert is needed, the ECM turns off the converter solenoid and causing air to be diverted to air cleaner or to atmosphere. Air is directed as such when: I thought the one you circled looked closer to the one that directs heated water. This is what I think they are talking about with an air pump switching valve as there is a long tube that bolts directly to the back side of the air pump |

What's under there that could be leaking?Cheers for any help, Alex The rear section of the reservoir is for the front brakes, so the fact that it's empty would tie in with a front brake leakage. The engine mounts are located on the crossmember, and the brake line for the passenger side front brake runs along this crossmember before meeting the brake hose to the caliper. You can just about see the brake line in this picture, beneath the inch-thick sludge : http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/camaro/image/P2111242.jpg It may be that the hose has simply come off due to improper installation, or it could be the actual copper pipe needing replacement. You'll not know until you follow the brake line back to the leak. For parts, give Dave Eady's a call on 01536 420201. He gets weekly shipments from the States and can probably get the MAP sensor hoses. |
