I have a 1989 TA 305 with no brake lights. I have done some troubleshooting and replaced the blinker switch thinking it may be the problem. It was not the problem. I Have checked my switch at the brake pedal and it seems fine. I need some wiring diagram info if anyone can help. What can I check next. Help I need some brake lights.:thanks:

Re: no brake lights

maybe you have a bad wire in the wiring from the brake switch to the back of the car.

did either of you do anything to the car prior to the lights failing?

I had a tire shop slam my deck lid and brake hatch motor..I have every other lights except brakes on the bar.
Is the brake switch with the third light on it for the tail as well?( it has 2 plugs)
and the other has a hose with a plug,is that strictly for cruz control?

Re: no brake lights

I have identified my problem and resolved it. I found some corrosion on the fuses at the fuse panel with infinitely high resistance on one wire and very high resistance on my stereo power wires. I replaced the fuses and cleaned up the fuse panel with some Tuff stuff spray cleaner. Im sure battery terminal cleaner would have been better. Wiring information for my car did not come from the useless schematic at the back of Haynes manuals. I was able to get a mechanic shop friend to print the diagrams out from snap on files from his computer. Your left switch is the brake light switch at the brake pedal. The switch should change power on 12v and off with the push of the switch. My brake switch was good but I lost power at my fuses Your brake lights also are driven by the switch inside the steering column which includes the 4 way hazards. These are replaced inside the column with the same switch as the blinker and high beams, etc. My car has probably a rare issue since it was sitting not driven for years and collected moistures inside when it wasnt attended to. I found this wiring to be fairly simple actually. Hopefully this helps you some.
