Shorty Plugs???

I have a set of edelbrock performer rpm aluminum heads and the PO put in a set of E3 spark plugs and the #5 spark plug wire burnt to a crisp. What does everyone run for shorty plugs or shorter plugs on aluminum heads and edelbrock headers???

I know on steel heads you can use accell shorty ones but on aluminum you have to run 14mm .750 length with the washer not the tapered style. What are the NGK part numbers?

How do you like your jegs heads? Was thinking of building me a sbc with a dart block with a set of the jegs heads with the 215cc runners.

I really like the heads....they' are great for the price. When I bought mine they were actually Canfield built heads with the Jegs logo on them. I talked to the guy who built them for Jegs when I was trying to find some parts. Now it's someone else that builds them....not sure who it is though.

Everything ive read says you have to run the washer style 3/4 in plugs in aluminum heads. Those are the tapered ones. They do ok still huh? I am running a supercharger so i may need to go a bit colder on the heat range.

Nope....I don't need a washer on these, these use a tapered seat. I think that depends on the type of heads. Older heads required washers....but I could be wrong.

For a colder plug use NGK UR6 - Part# 7773

Think I might go ahead and wrap my headers while im at it. Gotta pull em off to change header gaskets anyway. Figure it couldnt hurt.

I've never tried the header wrap.....couldn't get over the looks. :)

Figure it couldnt hurt? Ask the headers how they hurt when they rust out.

As soon as I get some extra fundage the crappy headers with the air tubes are gone so it dont meake me a bit of difference if they rust out in a couple weeks!! LOL oh and the air tubes are litterally gone. I cut them off last nite. Gonna weld up the holes tonight.

On another note i did drop by oreilly's at lunch today and they did have some mesh type spark plug boot covers so im gonna try them first. 2 were 20$. Kinda pricey so hopefully theyll work. at least long enough for some better headers.
