No low end I just bought a 1990 camaro looks like an Iroc, but vin says rs coupe with a 305 bone stock. The problem Im having is it seems like I have no low end. Can't smoke the tires not even in first. it seems to run fine otherwise. Besides when I start it it seems like the tack goes way up but doesn't sound like the motor is screaming. Please help |
Re: No low end 2.73 gears suck. 170HP sucks. This is the main reason you have no low end or power at all it seems. I have the same engine but with 3.73 gears and an S10 torque converter it will smoke the tires off. Trucks and Suvs can still make short work of me though but that's ok. Enjoy your car for what it is. A cool, great running, great sounding American classic. |
Re: No low end You need to find out what rear gears you have. A bone stock 305 with a lot of miles on it will not have much power left. https://www.thirdgen.org/1990-chevy-camaro/ |

Re: No low end How is the acceleration other than not being able to spin the tires? If you struggle to get up to 40+ MPH you might have a clogged cat? I agree with Thirdgen89GTA that you should do a tune up regardless. That's the first thing I always do when I get a used car. |

Re: No low end You may have a vacuum leak. |
Re: No low end Check your throttle body to make sure that there isn't a carbon buildup behind the throttle plates causing it to stick open. That's an easy clean with carb cleaner and a rag and will help in other areas of how well the engine runs. |
