Knock sensor thread pitch Hello guys so I have an 86 Camaro iroc . Engine was swapped with an l05 350 but previous owner kept tpi was going through engine and realized I have no knock sensor. I went to the store and bought one info on it says it has 1/4 in thread but doesnt seam to fit on either side of heads. The heads have a 3/8 threaded hole in it. Any advice on how I can get this to work. ? |
Re: Knock sensor thread pitch It goes on the passengers side of the block coolant drain. Not in the head. |
Re: Knock sensor thread pitch :yup: I concur. |
Re: Knock sensor thread pitch IIRC, it's a 1/8-27 taper pipe thread. |

Re: Knock sensor thread pitch The connector often gets brittle from heat from the exhaust. if you need a new connector here’s a link. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Knock-Senso...gAAOSwMapbaWOC or as a pigtail https://www.ebay.com/itm/Knock-Senso...ss!20876!US!-1 |
Re: Knock sensor thread pitch Actually, pretty sure it's ¼" pipe. 18 TPI if memory serves. It's about a ½" dia hole, starts out life with a 7/16" drill. In the block on both sides, about 1" above the oil pan rail. KS goes in the pass side drain; driver's side just gets a plug. I strongly recommend brass. |
