Got beat by a Viper GTS Was with a friend in his thirdgen (saw it go 12.26) Viper was on toll road and he floored it and got a good 2 cars on the guy before the viper hit the gas....he took us like we were standing still.....most amazing thing I have ever seen. (most horrible sound I have ever heard though) Viper started wobbling after he got past us and he tapped the brakes to get it back (we had the speedo pegged past 85) The guy turned at the same exit we did and we got beside him at a light. (Not trying to stalk the guy either) We ask him what he ran in the 1/4mile and he said "10" (just 10) we said what do you have? He said "I have more in my tires than you do in your piece of ****" and made a right on red and nearly went over the median sliding. What a jerk, heck his exhaust tone reminded me of a backfiring diesel. What suprised me is his driving skill, seemed like he was showing off and couldn't drive the beat. What a pretty car, but what a prick in the seat. Are a lot of viper owners like this from you guys experience? I have never in my life seen a car go that fast... |
As sad as it sounds, Id laugh if he made fun of the car you were in. Its the sad truth, to him any car not a Viper or better is a POS. And the fact he just wiped the floor with your car (after you guys instigated it) just made it that much easier for him. Now in the end he is a prick, and has a fast car merely because he can afford to, not because of anything more than money (unlike the rest of us that work for and build our cars) so feel good about that (or tell your friend to). Pricks will be pricks, I personally dont give them the pleasure of beating me! :D |
i see a few around here, only once ever saw one take off though.. it was great :D the corvette owners are the best.. slowest drivers ever, understandbly but makes me sad anyways id race one, just to try and get him to floor it, i love seeing them do what they were built for :D |

I don't know how I would do given a car with that much power, but geez he made himself look novice with all that sliding and highspeed wobbling :) |
I see at least two or three of those things every time i head down to the beach down here. Unlike the ferraris and stuff that are around these guys seem to punch it more and i agree they sound like big steaming piles of :bs: |
He's got a true high performance car, that's highly respected on the streets by everyone because its a quick car by almost anyone's standards. He destroyed a car that's 15 years older, in nowhere near as good condition, and doesn't have such a great street reputation. What did you expect him to do? Congratulate you on your loss? What would you say to a mid 70's Toyota that you just demolished in your 3rd gen - Hey nice car?! Additionally, if he beat you as bad as you say, with you having a headstart in a low 12 second car, he may well have had a 10 second car. There are blown Vipers around here that are just nasty. Traction begins at 80, and is still a gamble til 100mph. Sliding around may have nothing to do with his driving ability... |
yeah f-bodies really aren't respected on the streets, which sucks because at one point these cars to alot of people were Legends. Now they are musty tired old thirdgens, But the same goes for the late model c3's and all the c4's. Especially considering at one time tpi cars commanded LS series respect. Nice fast car meatwad. |

I don't think I've ever seen one with less. |
You know what? I don't care what he was driving or what you were driving, there's just no excuse for someone to be a prick and insult someone else's car. I hate sore losers, but sore winners are even worse, and it sounds like the Viper driver was just that. I've talked to the Viper guys that hang out at Cali Speedway on street legal drag nights, and they're pretty cool guys, even the one with the blown Viper (dude trailers in it on behind a customized Hummer!) I don't care how fast you are, there is always someone faster. There's just no reason to be a prick unless someone gets in your face no good reason. Sounds to me like Meatwad was just trying to start a conversation with the guy and did not deserve the response he got. It isn't the car (there are jerks in Thirdgens, Ferraris, and Kias), it's the jerk behind the wheel. |
Mike good point, but then you hate over half the guys on this site, who would race an import, and proceed to rag on the car because it isnt as good as a thirdgen. I see it too much, hot shots in thirdgens and Mustangs beating imports, and acting the same as the Viper owner, then posting it online and getting 50 other Mustang or Fbody owners to congratulate them. The only difference is I doubt the Viper owner goes online and posts about it, as Im sure to him beating a lowly 12 second car is nothing special! Before you hate on prick Viper owners, remember, the same can be said for a LOT of thirdgen and Mustang guys out there! |

And don't be too quick to think that Viper owner didn't go online to tell the guys on "his" forum about the "punk in the crappy Firebird who thought he could take me". If he was enough of a prick to make the comment about the price of his wheels, he was probably enough of a prick to post about it. And Meatwad, please understand I'm not saying your car is a "crappy Firebird"! |
Alot of people are just jerks when they have money. Usually the cool rich guys are the ones that weren't always rich. I have a guy that I regularly deliver for at work that always tips really well, and we shoot the sh*t about cars alot, and he even told me that he knew what it was like to work his *** off. Those are the cool rich guys. Sounds like the viper guy in this story was just a dork-off that had more brawn than brain. |
This reminds me of a time I was with a friend in his 2000 camaro z28 with an FM14 cam and a bunch of other goodies(including n20), and we pulled up next to about a 1996-1997 dodge viper at a stop light(and i rarely see these things ever). I go "wanna run'em," and the Viper owners goes "whats that thing run 13s? hahahaah." So my buddy goes "yep, lets go anyways." So the light turns green and we whipped his *** by a good distance and he said "I couldn't hook up let's go again from a roll." So we do it from about a 25 mph roll and kicked his *** again and he wouldn't even look at us and he turned off and floored it away. It was one of the best moments in my life LOL. |

im not rude whin im in my viper .but after awile you get a lot of people wanting to race , and it happends all the time even whin im just going to the store ,so i may enore people sometimes but thats about as rude as i get ,well unless your a hot chick then im not rude at all and i might say hi. you can see my car at: http://darcom.org |
I wish I was a prick Viper owner... |
nice car darcom, well you drive a turdgen so you cant be much of a prick. |
pricks are the best to kill off cuz you know your the better person. and getting sideways on a viper is easier to do than going in a strait line its like you have to have your foot on the brake and slip the clutch. thats what happens with 800+hp:D |
There was one at California Raceway recently and he could not hook up for nothing. His ET was around 13.00 seconds but his MPH was around 115. I would have beat him to the 1/4 mile mark but anything longer and he would have killed me let alone from a roll on the highway. :D |
so were you expecting to win?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:   |
. Dollar for dollar, the camaro won. Viper's are over rated. |
i'd take my chances with one. |
I guess I can understand why the guy was short, I'm sure he gots all kinds of guys trying to race him. But seriously I don't talk down to imports if I kill them even if they have the unbeatable cocky know-it-all attitude. I just give the thumbs up and enjoy my racing chest and shakey hands. I don't know what it is about racing- the rush, the accomplishment of doing a good job, or the neverending battle to have the best...but I like it...I find it more satisfying than sex  and to have someone to ruin your mood with a comment is :bs: . Even with my bad wrench skills I still respect everyones personal taste for their vehicle that best defines them, rather it is an import with neons or an old rust bucket with rims and tinted windows with a stereo that makes you sick to sit beside. I'm done with my ranting, but I had a recent run in with a guy in a Mercedes that called me white trash (well he yelled into his phone "SOME WHITETRASH #### NEXT TO ME HAS HIS STEREO UP") when I was listening to some metal somewhat loud (I honestly didn't think it was overly loud) on my semi stock system. The guy was on his cellphone in the passenger seat sporting a fancy suit and I guess he didn't like Slipknot :) I gave him that look that I was going to rip his head off and started to get out of the car but the light turned green. At least he had a paniced look and rolled his window up  I have a short temper with people like that..... Okay enough of this post :) |
More satisfying than sex... umm... Anyway, Im implying that MOST american car owners talk down to import owners and get that same cocky attitude the Viper guy had. They feel they are better because they drive the more race oriented car! They wonder why people waste their time with slow imports and it works the same with the Viper owner! |
Im one of those that talks down to the ri cer s not to the tuners tho just the silly little boys. do i expect to get talked down to viper owners... hell no reason why i dont try to race them i know theyre at least a 4 car length gap between us i only race those i know i will beat and those that will be close, its like racing a m5 when you have a stock 318i or racing a z06 with a stock l98 there is no way in hell that you will win if the driver knows anything about driving. |
I did a Inspection on a 1996 Viper GTS the other day, i talked to the guy, he seemed like a really nice guy with his little son in the passenger seat |

I would race a viper from a dig anyday. How many vipers on the street are modded???? I doubt anymore than 1 outta 10. That John Hennesy is a real anal-rententive prick. It was probably him who was driving the 10 second Viper you raced. He had a leaf blower blowing off the track, and ice on his intercooler when Motor Trend tested his best car... i resent the fact that 3rd gens are not respected on the street. Its sad to think that the stereotype of us is the ******-cut dude in a beater f-body. I say build what you got. If you got money.... go big. If you have a budget...build the car you have into your own form of self expression, which is much more satisfying than buying the "best"...... btw: ******s are cool:D |
No matter what, Vipers still sound like ***:D |

Yea they dont sound that bad. I was hoping to make the original poster feel a little better. He can definatly say his car sounded cooler while he was losing:p |
All it takes is a cross pipe for a Viper to sound normal. |
Yeah, with an H pipe they actually sound pretty damn wicked. But with the stock setup they sound strange lol |
|
darcom, u a fan of Back to the Future? |
wouldn't surprise me considering he owns two of the cars, both being hard to find and in the same shape as the movie |
lol...retorical question |
yea |
Hmmm... here is an Integra Turbo tearing up a viper... RIP http://host49.ipowerweb.com/~tunedby...gravsviper.wmv Rafael |

Cuz I thought the video was funny as hell... & having your car beat by a faster car is one thing... saying that "my tires cost more than your piece of $h@t"... is just wrong... |

It's funny that ya'll are talking about a viper, as some of you may or may not know I have a decked out 87 camaro and a 98 Z-28 camaro. Well, yesterday I went to the farmers co-op in Maryville TN and ran across a guy with a Hennessy viper, ( however it's spelled ), anyway, I told him he had a nice car as I was getting into my 98 and he asked if I wanted " some " of his car. I told him flat out that it wouldn't be worth his gas to race me because mine is almost completely stock. He mouthed off a comment saying, " ya, it's just another camaro that can't hang with the big boys " now that pissed me off so now the mods are going to be thrown at the Z and then I'm going looking for his ***. I hate pricks like that, I was drooling over his car and he dissed mine. |
Old joke.... What's the difference between a Viper & a Porcupine? The Porcupine has the pricks on the outside :) |
a very good friend of mine has a viper running high 10s, low 11s. He asks me to trade cars for a day with him all the time (and I do, of course, haha who wouldn't right?), he loves my 3rd gen. Vipers really dont impress me at all. don't get me wrong, its a fast car and a chick magnet at that, but i just like the muscle car feel over an exotic car. |
True, also a viper and camaro are in two completely different classes of cars. The camaro was made to compete with the mustang and corvette vs. viper, etc... just because I can't afford to sell my house to buy a damn car shouldn't give them the right to make fun of what I have. To me respect is equally distributed to a person as long as I'm respected back. |
well i would have to say that most of the people with cars like that, that act like pricks, were either born into money or fell *** over head into money. they look down on everyone and think they r better. people who work and earn a small fortune and get a car like that tend to be cooler and understand that buy what u can with what u got. the ones that act like pricks will never show respect because they dont respect anybody. |
Yeah there is no reason to be rude when you already know you have a faster car or for any reason. I just wish I could have met that guy on my 377ci 66 Nova on the street. I can run 10s in it. Its not a bad street car either but if I was racing that Viper and there was a curve at the end of a straight I know I would have did a BO and LUKE Duke off into the ditch. Probably took the viper with me. LOL |

Not because it's old or slow. I will point out that my prejudice only extends to non-American cars, and not non-Americans themselves, lol. |

They are a great looking car, sleek and sexy but still very muscle, not many in their new sports cars know much about them or better yet they just assume we are all slow like every 80's car. And then to have this 80's car smoke you off the light, I love the surprised look afterwards. |
