Attention ALL TPI owners...inside please...

I found this article in the June 2000 issue of Hot Rod magazine. ITs a great article for anybody who wishes to learn more about their Tuned Port Injection....including tuning, how the ecm uses the sensors...etc etc. I put it on my Yahoo briefcase because on here it says its too big....so try it and see if it works...thanks and enjoy...

TPI tuning article....

bigals87z28 09-26-2003 12:15 AM

SWEEEEET! that is awesome... I might call HR and ask if they can send me the issue.

Matt_Ky 09-26-2003 04:43 AM

KYL98 10-02-2003 10:22 PM

Glad you guys like it. It REALLY helped me to understand exactly how the TPI system works......

Magman 10-27-2003 12:43 AM

bigals87z28 10-27-2003 12:50 AM

to anyone else looking for more info, i found a great book. its called TPI Swappers Guide. It has a maintance break down of error codes along with tons of other great info. You can get it on amazon for like 15 I think. I payed near 20 for it at barns.

Magman 10-27-2003 01:15 AM

Thanks BigAl. I just ordered the book, $13 and some change. ;)

I got that book ...tis a good one ......tells the seceret of the 640 ohm resistor ;)

slohand 10-27-2003 04:28 PM

boy i hope i dont get nailed but........

i thougt about downloadeding this after much trial and error and printing it out. did that sound ok?

anyway, i understand that this is how you would do it for those who are interested.

save the info on you computer and then use a program for printing pictures out. start the program...something like 'picture it' and then call up the file and you should be able to print it out.

i understand it must be a picture program, word or any of the others should cut off part of the material. only a program to print out picutres will work.

just be sure to remind everyone that you are just thinking about doing it.

ya'll have fun ya heeya!

What page is that on? They are 22 lbs

llvll4l2c91350 11-10-2003 04:07 PM

page 7, top right hand side

KYL98 11-11-2003 07:51 AM

I thought they were 22lbs also....but it sure does say that. Must be a typo. When you look into the L98 .bin it shows 22lb for a injector flow rate......hmmm

Yes it will work, but don't forget that your L03 heads and cam are just as much of a problem as the TBI if not more so. Don't expect a big difference unless you change them too.

Thanks for the article link and the book link guys. It's much appreciated.

DriftaGMCamaro 11-20-2003 12:22 PM

alright

so where can I get the cams and heads?

NastyL98_T/A 11-23-2003 06:50 PM

Sweeeeeet! Thanx!

BTW, what's the casting number for the junk 305 heads? How abou the high output (TPI ) heads?

tpiroc 11-26-2003 03:30 PM

Yeah, I gotta post a big 'ol "thank you" too; Now I gotta rummage through the archives and find that issue! Exactly a year after that issue I got my Camaro, holy CRAP that would've been handy 2 years ago

IROC_5796 12-22-2003 06:57 PM

Souseless 02-19-2005 09:04 PM

John Millican 07-05-2005 08:12 AM

If any one needs them I'll host the article on my server for a while.

"right click, save as" they are packed in a WinRAR format to save space.

TPI Shootout

Since I just recently bought a 87 Z28 with TPI I'd be interested in reading this article.. But it seems the link doesn't work.. Anyone got a fresh one hosted?

Thanks

83 Crossfire TA 07-31-2005 10:58 PM

I’m assuming that this is the article that you guys are looking for? I took the original that was floating around, straigthened out the pages, enhanced them so they were a little easier to read and put them in a single zip file.

I’ll leave it up for a while if that’s it.

nathan600r 08-03-2005 01:12 PM

I am thinking about buying that TPI swappers book, but I haven't seen anything but bad reviews about how the book offers no information on swapping a system, and that it only talks about how the system works.

Great artical. Great information for the beginners like me. I just purchased a 87' IROC-Z from a guy that did $20k under the hood and just lost interest in the car. Car never has seen snow/salt in it's life and it shows. I will post some pics to see what you guys think soon.....
