Help Please I changed valve seals, but car still smokes at wide open throttle. Doesn't smoke at start up anymore. I couldn't tell what color it was because it was dark. A mechanic said it could be running rich or lean. Any help is appreciated. |
It could be running rich. Usually it will be a black suit type smoke.. Also your rings could be worn out, causeing an oil smoke, which is a little greyer. Hey, at least you fixed the start up smoke problem https://www.thirdgen.org/messageforum3/smile.gif |
Oil smoke at wot isnt caused by valve seals, its caused by worn out rings/bore, or a bad intake gasket sucking in oil from the lifter valley id guess that your engine is just a little tired and needs a rebuild if you havent messed with the manifold or anything smoke at wot could be a rich condition aswell but it wil lbe black smoke and not the greyish smoke that oil looks like |
Thanks for the quick response fellas, I will try to see what color the smoke is today. How much is a ring job run, or should I save for a rebuild? |
