What mods do I have to do to install an LT1 intake on older engine.

At present I have a 91 Vette TPI installed on my 1972 LT1 Corvette. I have a chance to buy a 1993 LT1 intake. Other than the center hole mods, how can I do this? Water jacket flow, distributor mounting, ETC. ETC.?

The newer Lt1 manifold will not fit the L98.The Lt1 uses opti spark the L98 uses distributer. The Lt1 uses reverse cooling the L98 uses conventional cooling. There are also differences in the angles of the heads and the block as well as port alignment differences between the two.I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that is why the Lt1 manifolds are so cheap when bought used. They just don't interchage with the older sb chevys.

I like a challenge ...

I am making the assumption that the intake, heads and block will line up. If they do ...

You will need a distributorless ignition, something with a crank trigger. There is limited room to mount dist. back there.

The next is the water passage. You will need fab up some mounting to allow coolant to flow, so perhaps AN fittings threaded into the intake might solve that. There is not much room for large fitting, so flow might be a problem. I am not sure how the thermostat would fit into the system.

If you knew someone good with an aluminum welder, you should be able to do something with it. But when you add up the cost, a miniram II might be a better choice.

Mark.
