TPI Throttle response Help?

I have a 1988, Camaro IROC LB9 Auto, Fitted with K&N filers and removed intake screens to improve flow, no AIR, enrichment injector or EGR and use a ARAP bin.
I am quite pleased with the drive and mileage (23-26 mpg), however the throttle response (in drive) is very sharp and sudden off idle...almost as if the torque converter had early lockup..more like a switch was thrown, not very progressive.
The 700R4 transmission does have a leaking (morning sickness) front seal, however even with fluid top up the response is the same. I'm not sure if I have a throttle or transmission problem.

is this a sudden proplam or has it always done it? sounds like typical fuel injected V8 response to me!!

Typical..I'm not sure. The long story is I had an engine fire 3 days after purchase. During the insurance repairs I had the shop remove the AIR and when I got it back I removed the EGR and added the K&N filters, learn about the EFI & computer, got some Moats gear and installed a ARAP eprom.
The sharp response could well be normal as all other engine behavior is great. I was very careful with throttle plate setting, throttle pot and cables. At 72 yrs my feet lack a bit of touch..tends to move in 1/4" jumps, so it may be I just live with it...
