tranny swap q's How hard is it to swap out the 200c from my 82 Z28, and install a hydraulic T-5? Besides the swaping of bolt-on's, (pedals, tranny, bellhousing, etc.) what cutting, welding or modifying will I have to do to make it a very clean, stock-looking setup? Also what years of third gen's would be the best donor cars? |
i think all you'd need to do is drill a hole to the slave cylinder |
thats what I thought, but just checkin |
you have got to cut a hole in the floor for the ****er |
I guy who is putting a TH350 in his 85 camaro want's to by my stock drive shaft because he says it is longer than the 84+ F-body ones and will work with the TH350. He told me that If I am putting the T-5 in my car i'll need a shorter driveshaft. It sounds right, but I hope this guy is'nt just telling me that so he can get my driveshaft. I have an opportunity to get the drive shaft along with the T-5 I am getting out of my friend's 88 iroc, but will I need this driveshaft too? or can I still use my stock one with the T-5? Only reason is that my drive shaft is like brand new, and the one in the iroc is all rusty and pitted. |
Yes you'll need the driveshaft from a 700-R4 or T-5 car, Not sure about this but you also might need the torque arm, Dont quote me on that, Im not sure. I have a T-350 in my car right now in place of a 200c, I am planning on swapping to a T-5, T-56 or 700-R4 sometime in the next year since I have to drive back and forth to PA for school! |
