10 bolt to 9 bolt/10 bolt noises

Question for everyone. 85 Iroc and the 7.5 rear end is making a houling noise when I let off the gas at highway speeds.
So I was thinking of replacing it with a 9 bolt but want to keep my disk brakes. If i can find one without disks and I just unbolt them off the 7.5 and use them on the 9 bolt?? Or if you have any idea what is causing the houling noise let me know also. I know it is a 3.42 posi. Thanks

I'm a bit confused about your question. Ten-bolt and nine-bolt rear discs are swapable, but you'll need the correct backing plates. Check the following link some some info that may help:

Check the pinion nut to see if it's tight. It's a common problem for the pinion nut to back off and cause the noise that you are hearing. This is an easy thing to check. If the nut is tight then you likely have a pinion bearing problem.
