there are a few threads on this topic on the first page of the trans forum, and if you search, you will find more. Have a look

short and dirty,

trans needs to be a specific 3rd gen f-body version, has longer input shaft
need adapter plate to use the stock bell
DS length is fine, but you need a ford C6 31 spline yoke
shifter is 2" too far forward, you need an offset shifter of somekind.
trans crossmember needs light mofidication.
some simple wiring.

Look up Fortes Parts Connection. They can set you up with almost everything you need.

I went through Fortes for mine many years ago. I second that.

I would recommend a Steeda Tri-ax shifter. It fits perfect in the fbody.

um I run it too and it has 2 settings. The upper one is slight bit tall and the lower one is perfect. perhaps it is a cross member difference. I run the spohn swap one.

any pics? i had the trans as high as possible, touching the floor, and it was still low. maybe its the knob im using?. I have also since modified the trans tunnel and rasied the trans up and its better now, but i still had to lengthen the stock an inch.

my drivehaft was fine with the 10 bolt and with the moser 9" rear. you can use a 98-02 aluminum shaft if you want, since its about 3/4-1" shorter than a 3rd gen one.

my DS is 41.5" center to center on the joints and the ls1 shaft i have in my 92 is 40.5

Might be a TA thing. Mine was in a camaro then I put it all in a TA. Only difference is I'm running 4th gen dash and console now.

What exactly is it you do to modify the tunnel?
