please help TKO swap first off this is my first post here so thanks in advance. ive been doing alot of reading trying to find out some solid info on putting a tremec tko 500 or 600 into a third gen with no luck.. i have a 383 stroker motor im pulling out of a auto monte carlo my torque arm mounts to the subframe connectors so its not a issue i have a built up stock rear a stock bellhousing that was mated to a t5 im ready to start buying i just dont know what exactly i should be getting.. id dont know much about the driveshaft length or yolks or if the bellhousing will work.. im in the market for a trans ,clutch, flywheel , bellhouse? any info on this swap would be awesome |
Re: please help TKO swap there are a few threads on this topic on the first page of the trans forum, and if you search, you will find more. Have a look short and dirty, trans needs to be a specific 3rd gen f-body version, has longer input shaft need adapter plate to use the stock bell DS length is fine, but you need a ford C6 31 spline yoke shifter is 2" too far forward, you need an offset shifter of somekind. trans crossmember needs light mofidication. some simple wiring. Look up Fortes Parts Connection. They can set you up with almost everything you need. |
Re: please help TKO swap I went through Fortes for mine many years ago. I second that. I would recommend a Steeda Tri-ax shifter. It fits perfect in the fbody. |

Re: please help TKO swap um I run it too and it has 2 settings. The upper one is slight bit tall and the lower one is perfect. perhaps it is a cross member difference. I run the spohn swap one. |
Re: please help TKO swap ok so i called fortes hes setting me up with a tko 600 and everything else i need hes only two hours from me so im going to pick it up next week. so thanks to you guys for the refferal. he says i might have to get the driveshaft cut? this is the only thing i dont know about. 86ta u say driveshaft lenghth is fine .. does the c6 yolk make up the difference ? |

Re: please help TKO swap Might be a TA thing. Mine was in a camaro then I put it all in a TA. Only difference is I'm running 4th gen dash and console now. |
Re: please help TKO swap What exactly is it you do to modify the tunnel? |
