700r4 question

I'm doing a basically stock rebuild on a 90 (i think) transmission. the check ball capsule at the very end of case near tail housing. the ball fell out and capsule is damaged. do I need this and where can I get one if i do.

Re: 700r4 question

I can't get one up. it's the at the rear of the valve body in the case. I've heard some one say to leave it out but don't remember exactly what the reason was. maybe a shift kit. just wandering if i can leave it out or where I can get one. not having luck finding one.

if your leaving it completely stock without a shift kit then i would say to find where it goes and put it back

Yes put it back in with some trans gel to hold it in place.

Re: 700r4 question

Figured it out. was able to order the capsule from local Chevy dealer, be here tomorrow. and cheaper than e-bay.

Re: 700r4 question

If this is the one that sits in the rear of the case just over the low/reverse piston apply feed holes, then leave it out. Makes for a better reverse apply. ATSG book has you remove it also.

I'm working with 4L60-E ATSG book, only one I have. and Ruggles book. he doesn't mention it. didn't see it in the ATSG book.

Re: 700r4 question

so Pro Built do recommend always leaving this out? in 4L60-E also?
