Bellhousing Question

Hey guys,

I put a tremec 5 speed in my 85 IROC. Unlike the stock transmission, this transmission sits level in the car. Does anybody know what kind of bellhousing I can use that will keep my stock fork and slave cylinder but will change the bolt pattern for the transmission from the angle pattern to the level pattern? I was thinking something like a c4 corvette bellhousing but I think they may have different slave cylinder mounting brackets...

Thanks!

Re: Bellhousing Question

They do have different brackets so it would be a try & see how it goes.

A Lakewood 15020 is dual-pattern and would work.

Other ideas here in the bellhousing page: http://www.garage-scene.com/t5-into-ag-body/

Re: Bellhousing Question

Wouldn't be too hard to fab up a bracket that would bolt to the trans bolts or the like.

Re: Bellhousing Question

Although the ballstud location for the fork pivot is different in the 84-92 F bellhousing than it is for the 84-88 Vette so bolting the F slave up isn't an immediate solution. Master to slave volume ratio needs changed.

I was looking at the Lakewood and I just really dont want to spend 500 dollars on a bellhousing...

Fabricating one wouldnt be hard but its magnesium and a 50 dollar bellhousing from a junk would be much easier.

Anyone know of ANY bellhousing that will work for this application?

Thanks!

Re: Bellhousing Question

but its magnesium
Doesn't matter; you can make a bracket out of anything convenient, and bolt it to anything convenient that can hold it. Personally I usually use steel for such things. Trans bolts & BH bolts are right there for you.

I am going to need to use the corvette fork or will my stock fork fit correctly?

Re: Bellhousing Question

Ballstud location change means the fork is different.

Are you saying the 84-88 vette bell is mag? Didn't know that.

Yeah the vette bellhousing is magnesium.

I think im gunna try to pick up a bellhousing for cheap and see if I can modify a bracket to work with my stock slave...

Thanks!
