T5 to T56 conversion I've got a 91 tpi t5 that I'm converting to t56. I searched and found a lot on the auto to t56 conversion but not as much for my project. The t56 was on a 350 so it's a 93-97. Other than the clutch and cross member, what else will I need? Can I use my pedals and do I have to modify the tunnel? |

Re: T5 to T56 conversion More gear than 3.27 if it is a 94-97 box. |

Depends on your motor and expectations. Whereas OP lists a speed density LB9 and 3.27 rear, I have it on good faith he will accept you funding a turbo build. Preferably in small bills. If you'd like to add something meatier to the discussion about your own experiences, engine, trans ratios and rear gears, please do. Until either of those occurs, A 3.27 rear and 0.50 are a poorly matched overall combination with the vast majority of SBC builds. |
Re: T5 to T56 conversion Yes my comment was a little more universal than yours (I missed the 5.0). My personal experience is with a vortec 350 with the hot cam. I find it has plenty of low end torque to overcome the slightly handicapping rear gears. Faster with more gear? Probably, but it would also be faster with more cam. The street must be a compromise and my camaro has well defined manners and enough grunt to be fun. Peace? |
