Trans & motor mount questions

Finally putting track car only back together. Need opinions on solid motor and trans mounts vs. standard mounts ?

Number one goal is durability of the T5. This is going to be a Lemons car and the number one thing is durability with out spending a lot of money

Have already acquired a Spohn TA and cross member so that is off the transmission tail and directly to the crossmember

Read about flex and movement of the case of the T5 being its week point.

What puts less stress on the trans? Solid or standard?

Well I'm going to use the energy suspension mount on mine 383 with t5 I'm currently in middle of swapping but I'm going all energy suspension on this

I'd watch out for the solids

Re: Trans & motor mount questions

I'd say from a durability standpoint, that a flexible mount will yield better longevity. This is taking into consideration that everything might not be perfect (it is a Lemons car isn't it?) and the flex between mounting points might give some relief to otherwise misaligned, mismatched or highly stressed components.

Solid motor mounts will break motor/trans castings in a stock body car. DON'T. No way those little bolt bosses will hold the car body straight.
