1984 700r4 Need some help badly. Did a carb swap and somehow it's like the torque converter has no stall at all anymore. Have to shift to neutral at red lights and stays engaged no matter the rpm. |
Re: 1984 700r4 What is it idling at? Sounds like you might have either the idle adjustment too high or possibly a vacuum leak. |
Re: 1984 700r4 Idling at 1100. Swapped from the quadrajet to a holley street warrior 600cfm. Fast idle is about 2200 rpm. |
Re: 1984 700r4 Yeah, that is a bit too high, you should aim for the 600-700 range. The carb may need some adjusting, there is a good Holley tuning sticky here just do a quick search. Another quick question, are you using a spread to square adapter? |
Re: 1984 700r4 Yes using an adapter. Plan on dropping a L33 with a 2 speed in it next month. Just tearing the driveway up with it acting like this. Is the lock up vacuum controlled? Could that be the culprit? |
Re: 1984 700r4 The lockup is electrically controlled, if get your idle in the right area you will probably be fine. |
Re: 1984 700r4 Yes sir. You were right. Got that fixed and the brakes went out while test driving. Thank you sir. |
