Best bang for your buck 9" center section Just ordered a Moser 9" black friday with all the bells and whistles, now I'm in the market for a new center section. Whats the best bang for the buck S case, Yukon nodular , Moser Pro N ? I'm thinking I'm going the detroit locker route. Like to be into a complete center for $1000 or less |

IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!! UNLESS you not going to drive the car...then your fine...FYI. Re: Best bang for your buck 9" center section not if you use a ford/long yoke over all length 4 1/2" long and in a 1330 u joint..I have one brand new. this is a pic showing the size diff of long & short. I have one by fast shafts that has had 8oz removed they sell has a light weignt yoke (1330 u joint) with this you can use your GM drive line bolt in https://i.postimg.cc/d1nNvbf2/3rdm2.jpg this pic shows fast shafts yokes.. full size and cut down /light weight.. Re: Best bang for your buck 9" center section I planned on having a center using a 1350 and using the bastard u joint for now to make the drive shaft I have now work since I just bought this 3" aluminum less than a year ago, or I will sell it with my 10 bolt and just buy a spohn extreme duty chrome moly |
Re: Best bang for your buck 9" center section I went with Quick Performance- Yukon nodular, Daytona aluminum support, Truetrac 31sp, Motive gears, Timken bearings and a forged 1330 yoke. All set up by them and came in at about $1200. Yes, you can buy the parts cheaper or get lower quality parts to start with and be in at around 900-1000 but in my experience their assembly expertise is worth the price. The 3rd member they set up runs quiet and has taken a ton of abuse. 3.50 gear, 3700lbs, slicks and 4k drag launches and hasn't whined or squirmed. The Truetrac is a great posi. Worm gear style drives like an open differential on the street and hooks like a spool at the track. If you are going to the trouble of installing a 9" may as well get the super HD chunk to go in it. Another cost effective source is Speedway motors. On the other hand, if you are pinching pennies, a stock carrier with a track-loc style posi and a budget gear set will get you going and you can drop a HD 3rd member later. If you go that route you can probably get by for $500 or so. That is the one big advantage of the 9", you can easily swap 3rd members later. I have a stock carrier and support if interested for $75. It has an open 28sp dif I will include if you want it. The carrier I have has been cleaned, deburred and inspected. I planned to use it but one thing led to another and I ended up with the Yukon unit since I have a manual transmission. |

Now I run a TKO 600 and the trans yoke is different so I lengthened the shaft 1/2". I was being anal about the yoke engagement in the trans though. Most people would have run it as is probably. I would wait and check everything after you have the rear and trans in place. Even details like LCAB and pinion angle adjustment affect the final rear yoke placement and the DS length. |

Re: Best bang for your buck 9" center section buyIng parts and knowing what you're paying for you can buy the best parts available and build this 9 in carrier for Less the $900 each..You can even spend less.. has I opted for ARP bolts.. just know what you're looking for and if your going to install 1350 U-joints.. by using a combo U-joint you're defeating the purpose of the 1350 U-joint.... |
Re: Best bang for your buck 9" center section I have used quick performance for parts also.. fast shipping and good to deal with.. they can supply the ARP pinion Bolt.. but the 10 ARP bolts for the Daytona support. I had to get from Summit about $40 a package Needing two packages per unit.. trying to do this post from a phone sucks.. the one Yukon unit I used I did not like the way the parts fit compared to my other units.. 2 thng I did not like about the Yukon unit 1.the Yukon unit 10 bolt pinon support has 2 diff bolt sizes..(so a can go cheaper price 5 bolt Daytona pinon support) 2.the support caps are shoulder cut.. |
