v6 t5 Hey guys and gals.I need some advice.!st off, sorry if this is not posted in the right place or way. Here is my question.I have a 2.8 in my 87 Firebird.I am going to purchase a rebuilt T.P.I sbc350 said to have 350hp.I want to know if I can use my t-5 and buy new clutch, flywheel, ect. If not I am trying to decide on a used T-56 or a new Tremic TKO 500.I have read the post where some say the t-5 will not last and others say they have high hp and still use a t-5.Any,all advice is appreciated. |
Re: v6 t5 You can use it but the gear ratios are designed for a V6 so they will be very short. It is also not that strong but can last if treated right. |
Re: v6 t5 I have a V6 T5 behind my L98. Definitely poor gearing, particularly 1st, at 4.03. I'm shifting into 2nd before I even clear most intersections...part of the reason I have a T56 rebuilt, ready for me to install. |
Re: v6 t5 What they all said: You will not like it. And, it's the weeeeekest T-5 setup there is, which means, it'll be just that much more likely to fail in a very short time. You can hack it together that way with a V8 bell housing and a 4.3 clutch disc, but start hunting down a T-56 swap. |
