Unknown Toggle Switch (?) So I got my 89 Camaro with no owners manual - shoot me. And now I do not know what the toggle swicth or the push button switch under my steering wheel is for. There is a "dummy light" that says "Security" like the "Service Engine Soon" llight, but they seem to have nothing to do with eachother. Now, I never heard of a third gen Camaro coming with a stock ignition cut off, but I have no idea what else this could be. There's no alarm on it, so I was wondering if you guys knew what it was. Thanks. Jay:D |
Hrm, sounds like the car HAD an alarm.....but not anymore. Your Security light is part of the VATS system. Your key has a little pellet in it right? Thats a resistor. If the ECM doesn't see the right resistance, the car won't start. BTW, those keys run about $20-30 so don't lose it. :) |
Sounds like the prev owner(s) had some kinda after market elec option, say alarm, driving lights, neons, radio w/amp turn off, could be about anything. |
