Its alive

Its did fire up on a base map not vey well though. I also lost all oil pressure and quickly shut it off. I had my eyes on the oil pressure when I saw it happen. The remote filter set up would not seal so I had to put an oem delco filter on the block.

Crazy thing is I had to buy very expensive fuel fittings and it is very hard to explain how I managed to make npt and AN fittings work with a metric fuel system, lets just say part of the system uses a air compressor quick disconnect half way back to the tank on the return side. Very expensive fuel set up all -6an.

All work done by me, tech edge wide band is working great.

I love it. It just the B>S smog crap here in Calif that I have to deal with. That setup would involve too much retrofitting and would prevent me from quickly changing things back for smog inspections. I'm jealous.

Thats amazing !

Come on Dale, that is a super charged 2.8 and your insulting it.
He will be able to get all 4 gears.
That 3speed gif is from a Ford site.

Gumby 10-20-2003 08:08 AM

Everything looks really really good but what's with the green tape on the V-covers???

Is the tape some sort of pressure test?

See if crankcase pressure goes to high???

Or just you havnt picked up a couple of fancy Vcover filtes yet and tapes the holes over.

If you want to get technical, if its a stick, its 5 gears :p , so he should smoke 5 gears, or atleast lay ya in the seat nicely with some good sticky tires!!

Also, I selected the one that runs off this site, not one linked from another site.

I can't control where the mods get the images from. Its only been around for a short while. But most site have updated to the new/right version.

He won't get 5th/ want to get 5th. By time he reve'v out 4th, he will be more then ready to shut it down. I bet around the top of third it will be scary fast.

Congratulations 614....you just officially blew my mind. And that isn't easy to do.

614Streets 10-21-2003 02:03 PM

Good new folks, after a miserable day yesterday it now purs like at kitten with 80lbs of oil pressure. I had to throw in the big dog injectors and add fuel to the map, a blown tbi map mind you!!!

Hey Matt I havent got the pretty breathers yet, thus the green tape!:hail:

I couldnt be happier for now, yesterday was a nightmare with a oil leak at the sender!

My pride has come back! Tuning time......

You're damn right he is, what kind of person would do something that detailed and then say "well, ya know, if I got more power I got more power, if not tough." 614, your *** better be at the strip in the next week and come back with some freakin' numbers, I don't even care how the rest of the car is drivability-wise, just get your butt up there. No, No , No...i don't want to hear any complaining. :D

Yeah, I have to get the truck back together weld in a patch panel, get it ready for paint , paint, then get it all tune the best I can get it, then dyno runs, then the track after the track and complete tune I'll throw the nitrous soleniods on and dyno tune it with a 50-100 shot.

If I can lay down 400 hp with nirous Id be happy. We'll see though, thats a bit from now. Hopefully someone will notice my work and maybe put it in print somewhere.

2_point8_boy 10-21-2003 03:20 PM

I say strip the paint off and then go to the track. That's gotta get you like an extra .2 seconds

that is honestly one of the best looking S10's i have ever seen.

va454ss 10-22-2003 09:36 AM

Nice looking truck.

Good job on the engine, etc.

Always nice to see something out of the norm.

xpence 10-22-2003 01:55 PM

I have an 89 rs camaro with a v-6.I would rather supercharge my 2.8 than swap to L-98 if I could get 400 horse.
That S-10 is awesome, nice work & thanx for the ideas

2_point8_boy 10-22-2003 04:15 PM

Just a question...if you don't mind. how much did that S/C set you back, must have been a pretty penny. I would like to see how it would do with a MPFI setup instead of the TBI. That would be cool.

Well I originaly bought it used for about $500. I ran it last year for about a month but it was worn out and needed rebuilt. I had Fageol rebuild it with new gears, rotors, end caps, bearings seals for only$680 . The only thing original from last year is the brown case which was not worn out.

Fax the company. He was selling the carbed supercharger kits about a year ago on sale for$1200.

MPFI is possible with this set up , but roots blowers need like the fuel added above the rotors. Something to think about.

Buy it new.

I can't wait to hear what your truck will do in the 1/4 and what kind of power you will be making, both on the spray and off the spray. :D

Let's show some people what 660s can do. ;)

Dude I just read about your 13.8 quarter on org, let the guys at forums know about it! Im Impressed by that hybrid! Way to go !

Cant wait to see the guys with the f-bodies like doward and lee 7 and the other guys doing v6 build ups get theirs up and going!

Power to the v6!:hail:

The_Raven 10-22-2003 08:51 PM

I was thinking about letting forums know, but last time I posted there, my post was moved twice, since it seems they didn't think it dealt with "V6 Performance" , so what Forum should I post that in?

Thanks for the compliments. I can't wait to get the set-up tuned and dialed in. :DOh and now you know what you have to beat. :p hehe.

I still can't get over how your set-up looks, just mean, I bet you will get similar looks as I get, you know the one, the "WTF is that?" look. ;)

614Streets 10-22-2003 09:22 PM

Put it in the forced induction area and title it 13.8 , it should turn some heads over there.

Yeah you know what I think since you call yours the "James" Im gonna name my engine the "Rodney" .

Yeah the local area is filled with shop hoes , I expect plenty of rude comments on how its sad I dont have a v8, or shoulda done a v8.......

It would be nice to line our trucks up sometime. ;)
60 v6 vs 60 v6

Doward 10-22-2003 09:52 PM

Three questions... :D

1) What's an S-10 or S-15 weigh?
2) What turbo are you using, Raven?
3) How much boost are each of you running?

I get that comment all the time "Why didn't you swap to a V8?" Or you wasted your time with that 6", I'm sure you know what I mean. ;)

I'm game for lineing them up, maybe at the next 60degree meet? :D We'd have to get that on video. ;)

Nixon1 10-22-2003 10:04 PM

13.8?? On a six??? IN A TRUCK???

Ahh, just shoot me now! My 5.0 Mustang ran a best of 14.29 at 100.4. You're really flying in that truck!!

Muchos applause!

614Streets 10-22-2003 10:10 PM

Doward , I havent actually weighed mine. I would guess like 3300 plus minus say 150 -200 lbs?

I havent measured boost yet since it is a few steps away from being on the street , but it should be in the 10-12 psi area maybe more. I have a bigger pulley incase it hits 3bar and I have to lower it.

1) I also have not been able to weigh mine yet, I just have to ask a friend of mine that has a 4 corner set-up when he's available, I have found some info that said that a 1988 S-15 Jimmy weighed 2770 lbs dry, so about 3000 to 3100 lbs with me in it, what does about 55 litres of fuel weigh anyway? lol

2) a Garret T-3 from a mid eighties Turbo Coupe comp A/R or .67 turbine of .68 IIRC, I don't remember the trim off hand.

On that 13.8 pass I was about 7 PSI, in 3rd and 4th gears.

Nixon1: yeah exactly what you said, I was also having fuel issues at the top end way too low of an AFR between 15-14:1 and causing some detonation. :(

I am planning on some chassis changes, still stock suspension, with an open dif and 3.73 gears right now.

But I digress, plans for next year. ;)

2_point8_boy 10-22-2003 11:13 PM

Why does a Roots Style S/C need the Fuel put in above the blower? i wouldn't think that it matters. Kinda like any other setup, as long as you are measuring the amount of air correctly, you should be able to put the fuel in anywhere and be all right. Don't know much about it personally, still taking in as much as possible, but I can't see why it would matter. Please Explain. Thanks.

The_Raven 10-22-2003 11:23 PM

I think it's usually a fitment issue, in a lot of cases with a top mounted roots style blower and a narrow engine, it's hard to fit injectors below the blower and have them at a decent angle.

2_point8_boy 10-22-2003 11:25 PM

OK, that makes sense. I could see how that would be a pain in the arse.

614Streets 10-23-2003 09:26 AM

Fitment can be an issue, but the roots blowers like to run "wet". The fuel helps to cool the rotors. Also the fuel gets beaten in with the air and atomizes.

Hey tt is that a 4.3 or a v8. Looks like a naughty one. :D

ttJoe 10-23-2003 05:45 PM

Its a V8 backed by a t56 from a camaro. Yeah its very naughty when all 12lbs kicks in.. I just need to get some better wastegates for it.

Good point, I kinda forgot about that.

ttJoe 10-23-2003 08:23 PM

Yeah, I've been to that site plenty of times. Its the site that inspired me to buy this 84 Blazer from my brother after he over heated and warped the heads on the old 2.8. He sold it to me for $400) I had a 73 monte carlo with a perfectly running 350 engine. So I swapted. ( the Monte was in a front end accident, after some bozo in a Honda decided to make a left turn in front of me..) That was about 3 years ago. About a year ago I got the turbo itch on the Blazer. So I rebuilt the engine to prep for the Turbos.

By the way that's a hell of a nice looking truck you got.

Some people on this board need to see this thread and then go back under their rock.

A turbo 350 on a T56 would be called a fairy tail in most sections.

Matt
