Marvel Mystry Oil

I bought some of this and pan on putting it in my car. it says to mix 4-8 ounces every quart of oil. Is that right? Seems alot to me? That would be like a quart of MMO in my car. Is that alright?

FAST RS 05-07-2004 08:13 PM

1QT MMO 4 QTS oil.

The stuff works good i would actualy run it before you do an oil change for a few hundred miles then do the oil change and put it in.

FYI a 5 Quart bottle of it is 9.00 at Wal-Mart

I also like there 5 QT Mobil 1 oil that i use in my 3.5 altima 20.94 a jug

But i can't add it now, i have oil right where it should be, it will over fill it if i put it in. You were very happy with it. What did you notice?

FAST RS 05-07-2004 09:07 PM

My oil PSI went way up at first for about a 1000 miles then i did an oil change. It was still at around 80PSI then after about another 1000 miles it went down to where it used to be just a little bit higher. I think it got rid of all the sludge and stuff in my engine. It also made the lifters quieter. I still havent tried it in the fuel tank.

Alright. I will change my oil tomorrow and then go from there. You can't mix engine restore with that can you? You think that works? So the MMO cleans and lubs the motor? Thanks

FAST RS 05-07-2004 09:27 PM

I would jsut use MMO i dont think its good to put tons of additives in. I do however use duralube once a year that also helps with engine noise.

Maverick H1L 05-07-2004 10:17 PM

It's still a bandaid for your problem. You should try running the proper weight oil first before you run the MMO. If the bearings and seals are alright, you won't need any additives in the oil, and running with additives is not recommended.

MMO isnt a bandaid, its cleans the inside pretty good. I had a collapsed lifter for about a month, i put some mmo in, drove 5 miles and the lifter was fine again. I dont think the mmo has anything to do with putting the proper weight oil in at all.

Maverick H1L 05-08-2004 05:55 PM

Well I still say he should try running 10W-30 instead of 5W-30 first, unless he plans on rebuilding soon...

br()bert 05-08-2004 05:57 PM

yeah i would agree on the 10 30

camaro350man 05-08-2004 05:58 PM

This stuff could screw up my motor?

FAST RS 05-08-2004 05:59 PM

I totaly agree with that i run 10-40 in my car 5-30 is too thin especialy in the summertime witht the heat.

br()bert 05-08-2004 06:00 PM

MMO no it wont, but 5 30 is pretty thin, then it gets hot and gets thinner, mostly everyone runs at least 10 30

FAST RS 05-08-2004 06:00 PM

It wont screw up your motor i have 230,000 mile son my engine if it was gonna screw it up it would have by now. You have nothign to worry about.
