Under Hood Parts Delete

I am looking to delete as much useless stuff out of my engine bay as much as possible. I do not care for the A/C and things like the vacuum canister and the silver cylinder on the passenger side of the engine bay... can i get rid of those?

I see a head gasket repair in my future and I want as little in the way as possible. Thanks!

Depends upon the use of your car.

I belive in the body section, there is a "weight reduction" thread which you can get into.

AC
Smog
Power steering
charcole canister
cruise control
relocate battey to rear of car
electric water pump
wiper motor/linkage

list can keep on going if you wish

Is the charcoal canister important? What would happen if someone removed it?

It vents gas tank fumes into the motor while under throttle.

Some have removed it with sucess. I have heard some havent.

if youre looking at a head gasket replace, and you wanna delete whatever you can..... it depends on your climate as well as what state you live in. in a perfect world you can get rid of your heater hoses, EGR, AIR, A/C. all those will get in your way. the charcoal canister wont really cause any problems other than 2 vacuum lines that take 2 seconds to pull off. the rest that Dale mentioned is all up to you if you wanna live w/o P/S, spend the money on an electric waterpump (and can find a way to delete the current system) and if you never drive your car in the rain or dont mind a dirty windshield occasionally.
