Where can I find info for the LC1?

Is there anywhere on the net (or anyone here on the boards) that can give me info on the LC1 engine, just for interest's sake. Everything from tech numbers to history would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

LC1.. that was the 2bbl 2.8, engine code 1, right? Oh, heh, that's your motor, isn't it?

Well the same things apply for the LB8 (2.8 multiport) motors... the same upgrades are available. In your case, Edelbrock also makes a performance intake manifold and carburetor for your engine, so you could dump the E2SE smog-uretor and get some more HP out of your ride. However, I don't think the Edelbrock package is emissions legal... while you might pass emissions, if they pop the hood you might fail. Know what I mean? Depends on the state you live in.

But you can still do a major tuneup, add an exhaust, make a cold-air/ram-air intake, upgrade the spark with things like a hotter coil & ignition box, change the rear gears, upgrade your transmission, get a camshaft or roller rocker arms or both, etc. Since it's a carbureted motor, an aftermarket computer chip will "just" advance your timing, and you can do that yourself for half the price by buying a timing light.

Oh your heads are the same as the 85-89 2.8 heads.

Thanks Tom! I'm not sure what the Canadian guidelines are for that kind of upgrade for me, though I'm probably not going to worry about working on it for now (well, besides the basics to keep it running https://www.thirdgen.org/messageforum3/smile.gif ) But thanks anyway!
