Value of my car
 

I was wondering what you guys thought about what im gonna do. I have an 86 camaro, v6 2.8l with 73,000 original miles, and it has t-tops. Im gonna be selling my car next year, but im not sure what to ask for it. When I sell it, it will have a brand new piantjob, black with gold accents. It will have 4 brand new tires. There will be a new headliner, and my interior will be professionally deep cleaned. It has a pioneer system in it, with a DEH-4100 cd deck, 240 watt 6x9's, and 150 watt 4x6 plates. The engine is in awesome condition. It has never seen a winter, and the undercarrige is near perfect, with no rust. I was thinking $6000, but i want everybody elses opinion.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that you can get 6,000 for your car. When I bought my 92 RS a year ago it was in almost mint condition and had just gotten a new IROC blue paint job the last year and also had new Z28 exhaust and I paid 5,000 flat for it. I think you could get 3,000 to 4,000 maybe. Keep in mind its a 86, thats a 14 year old car.

I would say 2-4,000 not anymore...

Up in the Northeast, a mint Sport Coupe with those miles would be around $3500.

My '89 RS with an alarm with keyless entry, factory system back in it, fully loaded with 86k miles and ALL documentation, and as close to mint original condition as you can get, would fetch around $5000.

do any of you guys read Hemmings? just asking. Cause i was looking at some stuff for my friend and was checking out prices of some 3rd gens. There were a couple for around 4k, but then there were a lot more that hadn't seen winters, and had under 100 grand on the engine. They were selling some for list price (original list) and others for more. There was an 85 Trans Am, going for around 17K i think. And then some others around the 10-15 area. Hopefully, the prices of thirdgens will be coming back up soon.

So, I can put a for sale sign in my car and put it on a busy street side and put the price as $13,000 and I wouldnt have to worry about selling it. Point is alot of places price the cars high, just cause they put them down as 17k doesn't mean they are gonna sell them.

Normally, when they're over $10,000 on a 3rd gen, it's got under 20,000 miles, or its a B4C RS or 20th Anniversary T/A.

I read Hemmings a lot, and that's what I've seen anyways. The only one I've seen I would pay the $$ for though was the 300 mile, '90 IROC 350 being sold at a place down the street...for the lowly sum of $17,000, it could be mine.

i'd go with the iroc. Well, i'm not really sure. maybe College. But yeah, i did notice the special editions. Except for that 1985 TA, the guy says it's really rare, but truely rare would be an 85 special edtion(SE). But hey, and about the 20 thousand miles, i say wait until the miles turn over again, and sell it while the odometer reads like 10,000 or so, just tell the people " i didn't know it turned over"

I'll never be able to sell my car for what I think it's worth- hell I'd probably be hard pressed to get $2000 for it... sure it's in awesome condition (except for those right rear rust spots), but I doubt anyone would want it with all the mods done. And that +200,000 mile thing would kill the price, too.

If I ever have to get rid of the car, I'll strip it down to a frame, and junk the frame.

Hell,Kelly blue book just said mine is worth.....$3,760,at retail.Trade in value is $2,350.

I know how you guys feel. After you sweat and work on your car, it is hard to even think about getting rid of it. It sounds kind of silly but you kind a get attached to it!
