f/p slot in fuse box empty cant relieve pressure in lines

I have an 85 2.8 firebird, and went to go change my fuel filter and for some reason there is no fuse in the slot labelled for the fuel pump, any ideas on what I can do a buddy of mine can wire it back in but I need to change my filter and i dont want to have fuel spraying all over the place

no need to pull the fuse, and it on the pass side fender in the front in a weather pack, 2-3 of them up there, 1 is FP.

Pressure is only held after the regulator, soon as the pump stops, the line bleeds back any pressure though it.

Though its still gonna leak like a sive, be ready to do it fast and have fresh air.
The gas with self siphone out of the tank till empty at a nice steady fast pace.

If you twist a line off cause the nuts are froze, again be ready for it.

does a 85 2.8 have an intank electric pump or a mechanical pump?

Oh yea, could be, I only know the fuse is up front for FI as I kept blowing it.

i would imagine, if the OP's car ran previously, without a fuel pump fuse, chances are there is no intank pump at all...

If it's fuel injected it has an intank pump.

A lot of times the fuse boxes will get carried over to the next MY, with changes to the electrical system, but no change to the fuse box labeling.

i don't know if you have an intank pump or not . BUT , have you thought about just thought about dis-connecting the battery ? always a good idea for any maint. . safety is often not thought of untill "YOU" get hurt . good luck .
