I got the info from this post: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/1...ctor-size.html

Injector Info:
2.8 13pph*
3.1 15pph
3.4 17pph

Now I have come across other sites showing 15pph for the 2.8 as well. And some saying 19pph for the 3.4.

Here's the part numbers from RockAuto:
2.8L - ACDELCO Part # 217-286 or ACDELCO Part # 217-284
3.1L - ACDELCO Part # 217-267
3.4L - ACDELCO Part # 217-301

That seems to me that there are three different ratings... I'll try to find the ratings for those on the web.

2.8 stock injectors are either 15.4 or 14.7 lb... So are the 3.1s. 3.4s are 18.4.

Not yet, this week has been crazy with vet visits, and doctors appointments. I've had to work late every night! I've even got to work until 6 tonight (usually 5), but I should have time to swap the thermostat and chip tonight!

I swapped out the thermostat, the 160 is back in!

Then I put the 23.5% chip in and took it out for a spin! The BLM was better, but still down in the 100-115 range most of the time. Still too rich.

So, I put the Tuned Performance "Special" chip in and took it out for a spin. The BLM stayed around 128 the whole time! We did it! :burnout:

I've attached the log files so they can be looked at. But for now, I think we're successful!

Additional note this morning:
When I got to work, I could smell something hot so I popped the hood. Though the coolant temp is only ~160 degrees, the exhaust manifolds were VERY hot. Looks like I may have a lean condition under acceleration (I've got a steep hill about 1/2 mile long up to my work).

I'll do some more logging and testing tonight. If it is too lean, I'll just switch back to the chip with 23.% less fuel and no "special" modifications.

a wideband 02 sensor would be a great investment, if not that then atleast hook a volt meter to the stock narrow band 02 or buy one of the cheap 20$ narrow band afr gauges , while nowere near as accurate as a wideband it will atleast give u a good idea of whats going on with a glance at the gauge while driving

Ouch, the wideband sensors are pretty pricey :( I'll have to save a bit for that.

I got the slc-diy2 kit. Love it. It was about 180 bucks with the sensor. does alot of pretty cool things.

Thanks for that tip! That's a pretty decent price, much more affordable :)

Okay, the Hypertech with a 23.5% fuel reduction gave me about 19MPG. I've not got the Hypertech with additional custom mods by Tuned Performance. Hopefully this gets us up in the mid to low 20's.

How much are you driving it? Is it running like it should now? Get the 'hot exhaust manifold' figured out?

Doh! I forgot to update! I'm getting about 19 MPG now. Driving it daily during nice weather, I've put over 1,000 miles on it already :) The hot exhaust manifold just appears to have been it burning off built up carbon. It's no longer a problem.

It's still a bit rich but a lot better! I hope to get a burner and try some more changes to the EPROM. I'm going to put my data analyst skills to good use and try to come up with changes to the pulse width and MAF tables based on the engine size increase.

Tuned Performance just sent me another chip with more aggressive fuel reduction. I'm going to try to get another log today.

Yeah, I'm hoping for about 24 MPG :)

Unfortunately, the chip I just got was no good :( Don't know what happened yet - but I'm not upset with Tuned Performance! He's been great so far!

I think the going rate for a good solid V6 thirdgen is 20-25 when its mixed driving. Back when I drove 3 hrs a day of highway driving when my car was the dd it was getting upwards of 25-30.

it also depends on the area ur in , if ur in a hilly area ur not going to get as good as somone who lives were its flat

same goes for altitude

My '85 with the V6 and TH700-R4 got about 24 tooling around town, so I figure this one should get about the same.
