What is this thing? Morning all! Just got my motor out and found something a bit weird. What is this thing? It's on the passenger side bank right at the back of the block above the headers. It had some sort of electrical connection to it. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...cfaf30aabc.jpg |
Re: What is this thing? My guess is that it is the dash indicator sender for engine coolant. If it had a dark green wire going to it, my guess is even more so that it is for the dash indicator. RBob. |
Re: What is this thing? Right I'll check wire colour and get back to you. Thanks again. |
Re: What is this thing? No its something else I think, I know cause I unhooked it on purpose. it and the CCP valve are both run off the same part of the ECM that will not throw a code if they short out as they then fry that section of the ECM but it still kinda works. |

Re: What is this thing? What Gumby said. Look at the front of the driver side (left) head, if it has a similar sensor it will be for the dash indicator light. RBob. |
Re: What is this thing? Ok so this is the wire to the sensor thing https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...da60a36de3.jpg And this is on the driver side head at the front https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.thi...815608cbbd.jpg |
Re: What is this thing? Alright, we have it. As Gumby posted the picture in post #1 is the electric fan switch. With the sender on the front of the cylinder head (last pic just above) is for the dash indicator light. I'd forgotten that the dash sender uses the slide on connector style. RBob. |
Re: What is this thing? Ok so the rear one is the fan switch, which I know works as the fan has come in and out, and the front is the sender for the dash light. Does this also send data to the gauge or is this another sensors job? |

Re: What is this thing? It's has the gauge pack so it must be for the gauge. Thank you so much for your help with this :) |
