A 9" wide wheel is silly - its only 0.5" wider than the 8.5" they presently have. If you were to say 9.5" to accomodate a 275-40-17 tire, they might get enough buyers (I would get a set stat). |
It's not an 8.5 inch, it's an 8 inch wheel that they offer. If I was going to buy a set of aftermarket wheels you better bet they would be 10 inch in the rear. Not worth the money IMO, unless you don't care about performance at all and are only going for "style." |
an 8 inch wide wheel is stupid... biggest tire you can fit is a 245 or you could squeez in a 255. 9 inch wide wheel would run a 275, which is what all 4thgens run with their 17" wheels... this wheel is for anybody who is intrested in upgrading for asthetics only, and not any kind of performance advantage. |
If you're spending the money, and want performance, go all out. 11" wide and 315's on the back. They'll fit in the wheel well w/o mods. |
It you want wider, just get a set of new rims and buy the spacers, I did, but I put a newer rearend in also, but 2 in spacer will work for 9.5 rim, I had 275 on a set of 8 inch rims, them fit just fine also, but rubbed when went over big bumps because car was lower |

NOPE I'm not confusing the two :) And I have seen BOLT ON spacers break / pull studs / fall off / etc. etc. etc. Like I said they work for LOTS of people just not for my driving style :) |
your driving style cannot possibly be any worse than mine and i have a bunch of autocross runs on my car with 285/335's.... The reason you see them break studs is because you have to periodically check them, like before each race to make sure the studs the spacer bolts to are tight... any bolt on spacer that causes breakage is because of crappy studs, or because of user error, like its loose... |

So anyway now that the spacer argument is over, I'm still bummed out you can't get a 9" + ZR1 rim that fits the car without a bandade.... :( |
Has anyone inquired if the Sport Edition "5055" wheels are available in fitments for our cars. TireRack sells their lines, but I couldn't find contact info for the manufacturer.
