Could be beneficial to close/delete threads after the veh has been sold. Will help clean up the classifieds section and help users searching for a veh.
I'm not sure how closing the thread will help people searching, or help clean up the section. We generally don't like to delete threads. Also, the iTrader system would not work if that happened as it needs an active thread.
Also, you have to rely on the seller even stating that the car, or item, is sold. That's not always the case.

It would help searching if you implimented more advanced search functions as described in my previous post. Then if someone searches for a "Camaro-350-V8-Florida" it would only show cars still available. But yes unfortunately they don't always say the car is sold I see.
In the future it will help to keep such posts in the same thread rather than having more than one thread on nearly the same subject.
I don't think locking threads will help unless unless it's known upfront that locked=sold, as I don't think we would want to restrict results by not showing locked threads.
But bottom line, as I mentioned, the problem is that people don't always update their threads about the status.
I do think it's fairly a good practice to go on date listed. A car listed is more than likely gone if posted in 2006 versus one just listed recently.
We will probably look into a (reasonable) package system for the classified section.

I personally like the way things are now. If a FS thread has a ton of posts, that's usually a good indicator that it's sold. Same goes with post date.

I would just have someone sticky at the top of the classified, PLEASE UPDATE YOUR POST.
