Re: This base Firebird is a real creampuff.

My lord those are some hideous louvers. They need to go in a dumpster before they scratch up the trim or even the glass.

It looks nice, aside from being boring and an acquired early 80's color choice inside and out. Accessories sound a little noisy, and the underside looks like someone did some careful spray bomb beautification.

The price seems high for a base model.

Maybe it's just the angles and lighting but the driver's side door and passenger side fender color doesn't really match the rest of the car.

Other than the price, it would make a good commuter.

Nice. 'Funny how the ad claims airbag & anti-lock brakes. Never had those features in '84.

Nice car, I love survivors like that, especially lower end models with few options.

Seems nice for a base car. A little overpriced IMO. Sometimes sellers have these and really dont want to move them. They are hoping to find an un educated buyer. When I had my 82, I wanted to sell it and priced it accordingly.

I saw that as well, the great floorjack incident of 1986 or could have backed into or run over something. Its weird but I have seen that quite a bit. Just gently hammer it back down into shape

I wonder how badly they ripped off the "lady" they got it from.

One thing for sure is the bottom of the car has been painted, there are no longer any markings noting that the bolts are tight, and the axle has been painted. I thought only the B&W axles were painted Black, the Saginaw axles were bare metal. My 83 was not painted IIRC.

Re: This base Firebird is a real creampuff.

For all the critical comments it's a very good sign that dealers like this (and Legendary, etc.) are starting to buy & sell these cars. For those of us who would like to think that our cars are something other than a money pit, and may cover their costs some day, this is a sign they are going up.

....and for those who keep track, I sold an 88 base model bird with more miles for more.

I love this thing. The "complaints" are easily fixed - the louvers, front plate, and mudflaps come off. In a base car like this with the color combo, I'd be fine with the automatic. I don't even think it's over-priced (but of course I'd try to negotiate!).

I love the car. Price seems very reasonable for such a survivor.

My wife drove a very similar '84 Firebird when I met her.

Think I should surprise her with it for Christmas?

Re: This base Firebird is a real creampuff.

A friend in high school had the brown interior in a t-top firebird with those wheels.

I don't know about how quick that one will sell, but I bet it brings back memories for somebody. I don't do spray bomb rebuilds, regardless.

Resale value at any point is somewhat irrelevant to those of us who don't plan to sell our cars.

This one does have a V8 and factory A/C. Two things that potential buyers of mine wanted (that it did not have.)

Re: This base Firebird is a real creampuff.

The best part about this car is it is clean, original, and probably not one of the cars that will appreciate. That means you can happily drive it for now, and when the drivetrain needs refreshing, you can swap in an L98 with a built WC-T5.

This car would be a blast with that T5 swap you did on your early Camaro. Pull the louvers, mudflaps, front plate and drive!
