Im a retired middle-aged man who was looking around for a bright blue Camaro like I bought through the PX while stationed in Germany. Well 4 months ago I bought a like new 85 Z28 and began looking for performance recommendations as well as guage the knowledge pool of the active board members.
I must say these guys are sharp, but NoEmissions84TA has never failed to provide a sage recommendation or validate my direction.
One such recommendations was to replace my 32 year old fuel pump with a Carter high quality OEM replacement. He even went to so far as send me the part number! Please look closely at the diaphragm rubber in the fuel outlet fitting!!!
Excellent. I have one of those Carter pumps on my truck. Works perfect and was cheaper than the Chinese local parts store version that an went through three of and ended up still having to use a pressure regulator. Last summer I swapped the Carter from Amazon and removed the pressure regulator. Amazing quality and cheap!
Ah, the ol' PX auto purchase program. Came close to doing that myself. Except I was on Okinawa at the time. And I was ordering a Harley. And it was about 10 years before that. They went and involuntarily extended me, so I canceled the order and got a refund on my deposit. Memories...
The Carter 6626 is a good unit. I put one on my ZZ4 clone 350 in 2005, it was still on it when I sold the engine in 2010. Never skipped a beat. And beat on it I did.
Can't say I've ever disagreed with anything I've seen NoEmissions84TA post so far. Certainly an asset to the TGO community!
I never had a low pressure fuel pressure gauge. Though I had 4bbl QJet cars a long time.
A neighbor moved from their home after 45 years, and I ended up with a low pressure fuel / vac. gauge, and a dwell meter too. Both handy when troubleshooting QJets, but I got by without for all those years.
Glad you got it figured out. Keep enjoying your Camaro.
