Re: looking for a convertible trans am 88 or 89 to restore
They actually are more common in an 89 than the 88. Probably easier to find a GTA than a Trans Am as well. There was an 89 GTA Convertible in Arizona for sale a few months ago for $14.950 (or very close) that needed some work. The others I have seen for sale recently needed so much work that it would be better to buy a rock solid original one to start with. You would have to probably find a second 89 convertible to get the correct & tough to find parts.
There was a 1989 base Firebird convertible shell for sale online & I would guess at the $3,999 price tag for a bare body roller, it probably still for sale. I think it was Frank's Firebird parts (online)
It took me about 3 years to find my 89. They truly are incredible cars.
