Re: 305 to 350 Swap, will transmission work?

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

The quick answer is "yes". However, there is a "but" behind that.

The 305 transmission will bolt to the 350, "but" there may be a couple of other issues to work through. It depends upon the year of your 305 engine (can we assume it's the same as the year of the car?), and the era (year) of the 350 engine.

So, with a little more information, we can answer your question a little more thoroughly.

Re: 305 to 350 Swap, will transmission work?

Depends on how you drive it.

I lunched my first 4 or 5 T-5s with the stock 305. Then scattered about 6 or 8 more with a 400. It's just simply NOT a "performance" type of piece.

OTOH I made the last one I put in there behind the 400 last about 40k miles and several years, by merely learning how to take my foot off the gas while I was pushing the clutch. A very foreign way of driving a car after decades of 4-speeds, kind of like my grandma instead of myself. Butt hay... it lasted until I put a T-56 in it.

And yes, I went through a few rear gears throughout the same time too.

It's all in how you drive it.
