Wanted to share my new catch where it would be appreciated.
1992 Firebird Formula with about 165k. NO RUST. A few dents on the front fenders and doors and could use a lot of work on the hood. Runs rough with no power, but no codes so lots of work to do but I'm pretty excited to have found one of these. 52U W66 WS6

Reason: Not finished my phone sucks
Thanks! Goal is to pull the dents, find a hood in better shape to paint to match and general preserve it the way it is. Does anyone know if the removable part of the hood bulge could be order in a different color and were pin stripes available from factory. There were a couple RPO codes that I was unclear on that leaned toward these items.
I'd be very inclined to remove the pin stripes. However, it's worth mentioning that with the paint delam issues these cars have, most have been repainted or touched up. It's not uncommon that the pinstripe is a break point for the new paint, or for the stripes to be under the clear, or for the paint underneath to be less faded. If the paint is generally OK it might be better to leave them alone.
Mine had the stripe on it but even with the faded paint, I had to remove it. I also had to paint the hood ornament because the paint was peeling off. It was weird because it had red paint under it, just like my 89 and both cars were/are original paint. Maybe they ran out of a certain hood ornament color and just shipped red ones through to be refinished.
Excellent! Thanks for all the advice, I will post the build codes when I get the chance, the car is put away for now to prevent me from spending money on it. I have a 91 GTA I need to keep going on to sell (the fiancé won't let me keep all of them). Found that the battery tray IS actually rusted and needs replaced. Turns out The battery is currently sitting on another yellow headlight cover and my passenger side one looks like it might have been red at one time.
Got this in the meantime.
Funny. That's at least the fourth version of box artwork for that kit. It started as a red 91, then a black 92, then under the Revell Motor-City Muscle label, the same yellow 92 but with aftermarket 5 spoke wheels, and now back to Monogram and stock wheels. I built the red kit years ago. The red plastic dye kept bleeding through the white paint resulting in a yucky pink. Finally got the paint white by using acrylic paint. I've got the Revell kit on the shelf, since it's molded in white it'd work better for modeling my car, but who has time to build a model? LOL
I've never had the later kit open, but the red version has the 1982 exhaust with dual resonators, and the transmission is pretty obviously a 4spd manual. I want to say the dash is the 82-84 version too. If I do build another in the future, I'll probably rob parts from another thirdgen kit to make it more accurate or fabricate the parts.
