Both the headers and the runners are custom built for that car. The runners aren't at all SLP-like. It's extremely obvious when you see them from the front.
I know SLP made a lot of bolt-ons that were used by GM, so it seemed to make sense that SLP made the TPI runners and exhaust manifolds/headers.
The reason I'm curious if my car is right hand drive and it's really hard to get clearance with the steering shaft with all the headers I've see, but these look like a posibility.
I've got a Magnaflow Y-pipe, and these headers looks like the only ones I've ever seen that might possibly work with a stock y-pipe.
SLP made Tri-Y headers back then, and later 4-into-1 headers, but neither of those look anything like the prototype headers. Notice the prototype headers use a stock AIR injection manifold that has been cut, rebent, and welded into the headers? And the Corvette style EGR connection. And yeah there's no way that's a stock Y-pipe either. The passenger's side manifold dumps before it even drops below the starter solenoid with the stock manifolds/Y-pipe, and the prototype headers dump below the solenoid.
Kind of a moot point anyway since they're a one off header, and SLPs are all discontinued. Even if they would work, they'd be nearly impossible to come by. But in my professional opinion, they wouldn't work.
One reason I ask is I've recently installed a Magnaflow exhaust, and the exit point of those headers seems to be the same as the the stock cast iron manifold, except the exit is a bit lower. Just to complicate things, the L98 exhaust manifold has an adapter to fill the space from the omitted heat riser, so maybe it would fit.
Pity there' no picture of the other side of the engine.
The aluminium heads were from a Corvette, which might explain the EGR plumbing.
It's an interesting design though, going up over the top rather than down and it looks like a better design for accessing the spark plugs.
I suspect some hardcore Camaro lover on TGO will know the store of these headers.

What part of "Both the headers and the runners are custom built for that car", is confusing?
They are one or two of a kind parts. They were never mass produced, or marketed to the public. You might as well be asking about the BBK Turtle-ram.
Assuming a person could somehow obtain them, I seriously doubt they'd bolt up to a stock Y-pipe. At least no more so than most headers for thirdgens.
From what I've read they made ten of these cars, and planned to produce about 600.
That's too small a quantity for GM, but normal for an outfit like SLP.
Those TPI intake runners look too good and too well finished for just a few cars. Remember too that about the same time GM partnered with SLP for the Firehawk.
Oneoff parts from either,
A: the factory engineering department or B: an outsourced oem/prototype parts vendor.
Same with the runners.
As Drew said, none ever made for public.
The way the header tubes mount in the collector, I'd say whoever did the factory headers for the 91 down C4 corvette probably made the prototype headers.
If you want headers like that. You'll have to build them.
my car is right hand drive and it's really hard to get clearance with the steering shaft with all the headers I've seen, but these look like a possibility.
No, the Dyno Don headers won't work with Right Hand Drive cars.
Already looked at this and spoke with Don. Would be fine on the left side, but on the right side space is tight and the steering shaft would be in the way.
Also, I have a new Magnaflow Y-pipe. It's a very nice piece and I hope to keep it.
I live in hope of one day finding headers, or even an improved exhaust manifold, that will bolt up to my existing Y-pipe.
Recently I've been investigating LT1 exhaust manifolds and even porting the stock L98 exhaust manifolds.
That's why the exhaust manifolds above seem attractive.
That car got taken apart and sold as parts - does anyone know where the engine/trans ended up? Feel free to PM or email if you don't want the information to be public.
there short headers we installed by GM on the 1992 Heritage prototype with the ZF-6 gear box.
The headers look like they might fit a stock Y-Pipe.
The TPI runners appear to be from SLP and I was wondering if the headers were too?
Does anyone recognise them or know if there was an after-market equivalent?
That engine set up made 275hp. Those SLP Runners are hogged out with no divider. This is where the idea came from for Dyno Don and his son Kevin91z. They designed their SLP runners the same way and was able make HP above 5500. Only 3 people in the USA modified their SLP runners. And they are in SoCal. And I took video of those cars on the Dyno.
