I'm planning on getting my car repainted soon and do not know what the stripes on an original 84 Trans Am without Aero package look like. Are they exactly the same as an 83 Trans Am? The stripe decals sold by Phoenix Graphics for an 84 are the ones for the Aero package and they go up to the middle of the fender vents. Not sure if I would like these without the Aero package on my car.
Also, the plate on the radiator support says 27L 19M 27U. This is Dark Royal Blue Metallic on the top and bottom, but what does the 19M stand for?
i have a 1984 Pontiac Merchandiser binder. it says the Trans Am without aero package and 27 Dk. Royal Blue Met. Exterior Color had the following:
Accent Color - 19 Black
Paint Break Stripe - Blue/Black
Graphics - Black
Turbo Cast Alum. Wheel N89 Standard - Black
Turbo Finned (N24) & Hi-Tech Turbo (N78) Alum. Wheels Optional - Silver/Charcoal
i'm assuming 19M means the decals were black: the hood bird, sail panel birds, fender TRANS AM lettering and rear bumper TRANS AM lettering.
At the bottom of the SPI sticker it says:
WATER WA- M0848 L8315 U8315
I saw on another post that D53 is the small hood bird in the front. My car no longer has that since it was repainted. The stripes at the bottom seem incorrect also. I think whoever repainted the car just took some generic vinyl stripes tried to copy the originals.
Any more info you can provide on the original appearance of my car will be greatly appreciated.
Re: Lower stripes on 84 Trans Am without Aero package
here's some pictures of a black and gold 1984 i bought that did not have the aero package. yours should have looked like this one but in all 27 Dk. Royal Blue Met.
