I was able to slide out to the garage for a little while this weekend. I got the front clip removed. Since the fenders and front bumper was shot. Although the hood does look to be salvageable. Just a couple dings in the hood.
I did find after I removed the rear spoiler that this car was originally a Black with silver strips. If this is the original hatch.
Gotta little side tracked today. My buddy I've been helping just purchased his first vehicle in over 10 years. Bought a 2 owner 91 trooper from my father in law for $700 with 143k miles. So I helped him to get it registered and then put it through a 5 hour detail.
Sorry for such a long time since a post but with Covid my life has been crazy. I switched jobs and now run a huge used car dealership in Charlotte and work 6 days a week.
But finally have time to sand blast my re-end and get it painted.
Suspension should be getting ordered next month. So stoked.
Well I was told two weeks ago from QA1 that my suspension would ship out in two weeks. That was two weeks ago. Called Jegs for an update and when the talked to QA1 they are out of raw material. They hope to have a shipment sometime in November. So in the meantime I figured I need to clean up the fenderwells.
I must recommend the Trackspec functional Hood Louvers. Not only do they look gorgeous but they help a ton with cooling. I think these will fit in right nice with a classy resto mod.

That is in the plan for this build. I like them a lot. I have gone back and forth about running my Iroc hood and these or a cowl hood. Every time I debate this in my head the Iroc hood with the functional louvers wins out!
Finally got some good news which is much needed with the bad luck I have been having. I have had to put this project on the back burner since I had to buy a new transmission for my Durmax since I let someone replace my u-joints on my driveshaft and they didn't properly install them. The driveshaft decided to let loose and smack the side of my transmission. Now I'm waiting on SDP to finish my custom transmission for my Duramax.
Kind of related to this build in the fact that it took funds away from my project right now but my transmission came in for my Durmax. Here a picture of her broke down at my work waiting to get put back together. So heart broken I just got it straight piped with a 5 in axle dump, HSP cold air intake and all new intercooler and turbo piping and an edge tuner and then Boom. So I can't wait to feel this trucks power after the new transmission goes in. Should be ready to pull the Camaro where ever we need to go!
The spinals are going to need a little grinding to fit the QA1 struts. So I'm sending them off to my buddy's offroad shop. So he can get them right for me. Man this set up looks so good and solid.
Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I haven't done much to the car. The camaro fund ended up going into starting my new business. After 18 years of the automotive industry I decided to make a leap and praying it works. Good thing is I now work in my garage right next to my camaro. I opened up a powder coating business. I did finally today get around to powdering my springs to match my Baer brakes after reaching out to Baer to get the powder information.
I read where you said the hatch had been blue previously and you weren't certain on the cars original color. Not only can you run the RPO codes that will tell you essentially what options the car had when it was initially built. The engine bay rarely lies. Yours appears to have the original paint there... the car was black from the factory
Its been a while since I've updated this. Finally got back to the project. Engine bay is finally primered and I should be able to start painting in next week.
