305-performance 350 keeping TPI
305-performance 350 keeping TPI
Upgrading 305 TPI to a performance 350 longblock but i would like to keep the TPI. I have a set of slp runners and some dougs headers but am not sure what I should be doing with the stock upper and lower intake, fuel rails injectors and throttlebody and then what to do for the computer? the 350 specs are GM 350 390 hp Stage 1 long block crate engines include:
Handpicked, remanufactured block
High Performance aluminum cylinder heads with 2.020 in. intake/1.600 in. exhaust valves
Original equipment crankshaft and connecting rods
Hypereutectic pistons
Hydraulic roller camshaft
Stylish valve covers
Timing cover and timing set
Comprehensive oil pan, pump, and pickup tube
Any help or thoughts on what I should expect to run into would be helpful and no I dont want to LS swap it. I want to keep it looking stockish

I am not sure the listing doesn't say this is the link to the engine I am looking to buy
https://engines.com/products/chevy-350-390hp
I am a parts changer and don’t really have much knowledge of cam specs I reall just want to give my car some decent HP while not too choppy I want smooth reliable power since it currently only has a little over 200 I figure 350+ will be more than I need

Very vague description, no cam specs or even intake port sizes or head cc.
Re: 305-performance 350 keeping TPI
I can write an email to them asking these questions. What kind of question should I ask like I said I don’t know much was planning on using a stock lower and upper intake maybe opening up to match the SLP runners?

Thats a sketchy listing and a sketchy looking website. Id go w blueprint/atk/GM/smeding for a crate engine. There obviously others as well. The issue is, your're not gonna take a 390hp/420 ftlb sbc and pop a tpi on it and have that kind of power or have it be plug and play. You'll need injectors and tuning minimally. But you are also at the limit of power from a tpi. If you build something like a zz4/5/6 or something else w a mild cam you may be OK ish w a tpi but you'll still need tuning/injectors. The tpi systems are cool but really outdated. There is great support for them and there are some brilliant people on here who can guide you w tuning/injectors. That said, the tpi power is limited.
Using a edelbrock pro flow xt will handle what ever power you want, install easy and is easy to tune. Just a thought.
you have options but i will say this, that kind of hp goal will take you from the bolt on/remove and replace kind of situation to a trouble shooting/modifying and designing situation. This will be the case no matter what path you take. I wouldn't let it get in your way. Its just a learning experience. Ask questions/research and you'll figure it out. These cars are super simple and everything has been done to them before!

it doesn’t mention stall or compression nothing to describe what you’re getting. Are you still wanting alot of low end torque or to have it rev higher and loose some torque? A pro flo xt, hsr, or have your intake ported or find a aftermarket base. Thread
