im looking for a new set of tires. i'm basically looking for hard street use with maybe some autox or rr on the side. I'm on 15" rims however, and all the tire sizes ive seen flauted around here are on 16" rims. is there a solid tire for a 15" rim or am i better of looking for 16". the problem is that im on a limited budget, im not spending much more than $400 for tires, and if i had to buy rims . . . well that would make it pretty damn near impossible to get even half-decent tires.

is a 275/60r15 too wide for my wheel well? or too high? all the 15" tires seem to have a much bigger OD than the 16"'s. basicaly im a retard when it comes to tires, so advice would be greatly appreciated.

A 275 width tyre may be getting a little too wide for the rim, depending. The 15" stock wheels are about 8" wide aren't they?

I've got 255/60 15 on the back of my 'Bird and they look quite chunky enough (235/60s on the fronts, the car came like that).

The 60 denotes the profile (sidewall height) of the tyre - 60% of 275mm width in your example, so you do end up with quite a large OD.

Hope this helps.
