I have them. They sure are kind of stiff, but I love them

They are good for the price and definately better than stock. When I need to run cheaper shocks/struts I always go with the Tokiko HP's over the other cheaper shocks/struts. So far I've run them on 2 different cars, both with stock springs, and they worked great.
the HP's are a good stock spring shock, they give a taught ride and good compliance over bumps. They are way better than the KYB's or gabriels. I love them on regular passenger cars. I had them on my car with stock springs and i liked them, a little soft but great damping, and great over bumpy roads. I would not reccomend them for lowered cars or performance springs. They bottomed badly with the prokit, partly due to the prokits soft rate. I now run the Tokico illumina adjustable shocks and i love them. five position adjusters i usually run on 2 or 3 decent ride quality with a taught firm ride.

Let's bring this one back from the dustbin.
I've never had adjustable shocks before, but am considering the Illuminas for my Formula.
How the heck do you adjust them? I know they have a **** on them, so what, you have to crawl around and turn the ***** before you head down the driveway?
Lame question, I know, but I don't have the answer!

The Illuminas have the adjustment **** on the top of the strut/shock. You use a small flathead screwdriver to adjust them. In the front you can adjust them by opening the hood, taking off the strut mount caps, and using the screwdriver (even easier if you have aftermarket strut mounts with no caps). In the rear you would need to put the back seat down, pull up the carpet, remove the foam above the shock mount, and use the screwdriver (much easier if the car is completely gutted in the rear). My car with the Illuminas has aftermarket strut mounts, and the rear it gutted, so extremely easy for me to access them. But if it was bone stock then might be little bit of a PITA every time you wanna adjust them.
The Tokiko HP's are non-adjustable. I've read they are the equivalent of the Illuminas on setting 3, but I have no real way to verify this.

Thanks for explaining that proicess to me...not something I want to deal with now that I know what it entails.
Do you happen to know how the HP might compare to a factory performance suspension shock, like what came on WS6 cars (don't know the Camaro equivalent, sorry).

its not something you deal with, you set them where you like them and leave them there. unlike a non adjustable where you get no options. it they start to wear you can bump them up, or if you make another suspension change. they are a great shock, i highly reccomend them.

I'm pretty happy with mine, seem to work good with the springs I'm using (which aren't that stiff). Here's a pic that shows the adjuster on the top (its the red dial)

I should take a pic of the HP shocks (the ones in this pic are not HP's like this thread was originally about)

I have been using the Tokico Illumina adjustables for a few years now and once I got the ride where I wanted it I haven't touched them since. They were somewhat pricey at the time but well worth it.
