yesterday i bought a set of diamond spoke rims from a 90 gta that was being parted out for my newly purchased 87 gta that does not have the stock rims. when the rims were removed, i saw a casting mark on the backside near the lug holes reading "JAPAN UM".
even so, i went ahead and closed the deal. the rims are in pretty good shape, except i have about six years of brake dust to clean off!
so here's the quesion. did i get DUPED? are these really the stock rims that came with the 90 gta? or are they some foreign imitation?
thanks in advance

I've read that those wheels are actually made by Enkei, one of the more popular wheel manufacturers. Then GM puts their center cap on them. I don't remember if Enkei is a Japanese company...
If that's true, then maybe you didn't get jipped.
Like I said, I'm not sure on that, but maybe someone can clarify that.

I swapped Pontiac WS6 gold mesh rims from a GTA onto my 90 RS. It too has the casting mark and "made in Japan". FYI, my RS aluminum rims also were made in Japan as was the 1LE aluminum spare rim I bought. You've got the real thing.
