i got an 82 Z28. I need to replace my gearbox and I was wondering if anyone knew if I could put a gearbox out of an iroc with a better ratio in my car.

True dat... but OTOH, they're super eeeeeeeeezy to rebuild, and if they don't leak, even eeeeeeeeeeezier to merely adjust, when off the car; but MUCH harder on the car.
After all, no sense in putting somebody else's 200k miles worth of accumulated slop gearbox onto your car if you can avoid it.
